H.E. Abdulla Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Acting Director General of Zayed Authority for People of Determination, affirmed that a sustainable economy is one that enables everyone to participate, contribute and create value, highlighting human potential as an equally important dimension in strengthening economic resilience.
Speaking on the first day of the fourth edition of the Forbes Middle East Sustainability Leaders Summit – Abu Dhabi 2026, Al Humaidan explained that the Authority is translating the principles of a sustainable economy into tangible economic opportunities, sustainable employment and measurable outcomes. He emphasized the importance of transforming inclusion into an effective driver of economic growth.
Al Humaidan stated that Zayed Authority for People of Determination is advancing its empowerment approach beyond the traditional concept of vocational training. He highlighted the Bee ecosystem, which has developed a model that connects skills development with actual production and economic participation through a diverse range of activities, including sewing workshops, food production, Bee Café, printing, 3D printing technologies and other specialised services.
He explained that the significance of this model lies not merely in the diversity of its activities, but in the economic value it generates. Through collaboration with the government and private sectors, the Authority focuses on achieving four key outcomes: capacity building, by transforming skills into productive capabilities that meet quality standards; employment, by creating meaningful, sustainable and value-generating job opportunities; economic value creation, by moving beyond training towards actual commercial and productive activities; and scaling impact, by developing a model that can be expanded through partnerships and technology.
His Excellency noted that inclusion becomes sustainable when it is embedded as an integral part of business and operational models. He emphasised that the Authority's approach to inclusion seeks to foster a sense of purpose and value among individuals, recognise their abilities and potential, and enable everyone to participate in economic life with confidence and dignity.
He further highlighted that Zayed Authority for People of Determination aims not only to prepare individuals to enter the labour market, but also to build partnerships and create enabling environments in which their capabilities can generate sustainable, long-term value. He stressed that this approach represents a significant shift in how the Authority views inclusive economic development, underscoring that People of Determination are not merely beneficiaries of the economy, but active partners and contributors to its development and growth.
Al Humaidan concluded that the experience of Zayed Authority for People of Determination has demonstrated that meaningful employment opportunities, measurable economic contributions and a more resilient and sustainable future can be achieved when skills are connected to opportunities and inclusion is aligned with genuine market demand.
He emphasised that the economy of the future will not be defined by technology, capital or infrastructure alone, but also by the extent to which societies can empower the greatest possible number of individuals to participate actively and meaningfully in economic life.
