"The Bee Cafe" at Al Ain City Municipality Presents an Inspiring Model for Empowering People of Determination in the Hospitality Sector

As Part of Efforts to Promote Empowerment and Social Inclusion


The Bee Cafe, affiliated with Zayed Authority for People of Determination – Al Ain Branch, participated in an event hosted by Al Ain City Municipality, where People of Determination working at the café delivered an exceptional experience in preparing and serving specialty coffee to visitors and employees. Through their participation, they showcased the professional skills they have acquired through the Authority’s rehabilitation and training programs.

The participation received wide appreciation from attendees, who were introduced to The Bee Cafe experience as one of the UAE’s pioneering national models for empowering People of Determination and integrating them into the labour market. The initiative provides a real professional environment that enables participants to develop their skills and strengthen their economic and social independence.

This participation reflects Zayed Authority for People of Determination’s commitment to expanding the presence of its beneficiaries across various community and institutional events, while highlighting their professional capabilities in hospitality and customer service. Such initiatives contribute to fostering a culture of inclusion and reinforcing confidence in their abilities and achievements.

The Bee Cafe is considered one of the flagship projects of Zayed Authority for People of Determination and the first café in the UAE to be operated entirely by People of Determination with different types of disabilities. Launched in 2022, the project aims to empower them professionally and economically by providing quality employment and training opportunities within the hospitality sector.

The café adopts an integrated vocational training system that covers specialty coffee preparation, customer service, communication skills, and self-management, thereby enhancing the readiness of People of Determination to integrate into diverse work environments. Several of its members have also successfully obtained internationally recognized Barista certifications from the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA), reflecting the high levels of competence and professionalism they have achieved.

The Authority affirmed that The Bee Cafe’s participation in events and engagements hosted by government and private entities serves as a practical platform to showcase the capabilities of People of Determination and highlight their success stories. It also embodies the Authority’s vision of building a more inclusive society that provides equal opportunities for everyone to participate, contribute, and thrive.

For its part, Al Ain City Municipality emphasized that empowering People of Determination and promoting their inclusion within society constitute a key pillar of its efforts to enhance quality of life and reinforce the values of inclusivity. The Municipality noted that hosting impactful initiatives such as The Bee Cafe helps showcase the capabilities and professional skills of People of Determination while providing practical platforms that support their participation across various sectors. Such initiatives facilitate their integration into workplaces and community events and strengthen their role as active partners in the journey towards sustainable development.
